«Remember that I am wandering and afflicted, that I am saturated with gall and bitterness. I always keep this in mind, and that’s why I get depressed. But something else comes to mind, which fills me with hope: The great love of the Lord never ends, and his compassion never runs out. Every morning his goodness is renewed; Very great is his fidelity! So I say, «The Lord is all I have. I will wait on him! ”” Lamentations 3: 19-24 (NIV)
When your world is falling apart, it is very easy to focus on pain, problems, pressure and difficulties. It is a natural response. But the biblical answer is to reverse your focus on God’s love.
Even if you think you are angry with God, you must remember how much He loves you. Concentrate on his unconditional love. Remember that you cannot make God stop loving you. You can complain, raise your voice and yell at him, but he will continue to love you forever.
You can see this fact in the life of Jeremiah Lamentations 3: 19-26 Jeremiah focused on his pain: “I am saturated with gall and bitterness. I always keep this in mind, and that’s why I get depressed ”(v. 19-20 NIV). He was consumed in the devastation that surrounded him. This filled his thoughts and made him bitter and depressed.
If you want to change your life, you have to change your thoughts. So that’s what Jeremiah did. We see the mental change in the following verses: “But something else comes to mind, which fills me with hope: The great love of the Lord never ends, and his compassion never runs out. Every morning his goodness is renewed; Very great is his fidelity! So I say, «The Lord is all I have. I will wait on him! ”
You don’t know that God is all you need until God is all you have. But that’s all you need, because God will take care of you.
We make foolish mistakes when we doubt God’s love. We think: «I know better than God, and I will decide to do things my way, instead of following the path of God.» Or do we think that God is a cosmic disaster looking for ways to make our lives miserable
We need to change our thinking. We need to remember, “Because the Lord does not reject forever, rather, he is afflicted, he will also feel compassion according to his great mercy. For He does not punish for pleasure or afflict the sons of men ”Lamentations 3: 31-33 (NASB).
God loves you. He is not the strict father who could not satisfy you. He is not the imperfect father with the weaknesses and faults that messed up. He is God – the everlasting, omniscient, and infallible God who created you to love you and will never leave you
So when you feel like you have lost everything, stop focusing on what is lost and start focusing on what is left: God and his love for you.
